In last week's episode, "The Man Behind the Curtain", Ben appears to be speaking to an empty chair, where Jacob should have been sitting. Locke is skeptical about the situation and has started to think Ben is crazy. You heard the "Help me" line and Jacob's wrath throughout his little hut, but perhaps you missed the screen flashing for a short second with the above image, which is likely of Jacob himself.
Why does Jacob only appear for a second? Why does he say "help me"?
The image we have of him leaves many possibilities. It's hard to tell whether he most closely resembles Alvar Hanso, Locke, or any other character one could make an argument for.

"I am not alone"
Saturday, April 28, 2007
When Naomi (the parachutist) says "eu nao estou so", Mikhail tells the others that she has said "Thank you". The actual Portuguese translation is "I am not alone".
Any thoughts on this?

Biblical Names
Saturday, April 14, 2007
The oft-mentioned Jacob isn't the only person on "Lost" with a name borrowed from the Old Testament. Here's a list of people I can think of that have a "Biblical" name:
1. Benjamin Linus - Benjamin is the youngest son of Jacob in the Bible
2. Aaron Littleton (Claire's baby) - Aaron is the brother of Moses
3. Jack/Christian Shepherd - Jacob is a shepherd in the bible, (among other prominent characters). Also, Christian could be a reference to Christianity.
4. Isaac of Uluru (healer from flashback in season 2)- Isaac is the son of Abraham and the father of Jacob.
5. Dave (Hurley's imaginary friend) - King David
6. "Adam and Eve" (skeletal remains found in season that are given this nickname) - Adam and Eve are the first man and woman created by God in the Bible.
7. Rachel Burke (Juliet's sister) - Rachel is Jacob's wife.
8. Rachel Blake (daughter of Alvar Hanso, protagonist of The Lost Experience) - idem.
With this in mind, maybe the true identity of Jacob can be revealed through a Biblical clue:
1) Jacob is Isaac of Uluru or his son.
2) Jacob is Rachel Burke's husband.
3) Jacob is Christian Shepherd.
4) Jacob is Ben's father.
Moreover...
1) In the Bible, Jacob's wife Rachel, died while giving birth to Benjamin. — Women who have become pregnant on the island have died.

Claire and Jack
With Juliet hanging out with the plane crash survivors, there's the possibility for a number of mysteries to be revealed. However, one thing that I could see happening is her informing Jack and Claire that they are siblings. I hope the writers can tie that into the plot cleverly.

How do the Others leave the island?
Let's look at the facts:
1. The Others have food and it must be replenished. In Ben's refrigerator, this food has the DHARMA label.
2. The Swan was associated with a food drop and at one point, the survivors found a food drop. There was also food in the hatch itself.
3. In "One of Us", Ben has Richard Alpert show Juliet's sister on a television screen in the Flame Hatch. Richard must have gone there very quickly and he is told to return as soon as possible. However, when Ben speaks to Alpert, his reply cannot be heard.
4. Juliet was drugged before being taken to the island. She wakes up in a submarine.
5. Juliet and Jack are told they can leave the island if they comply with the Others, and they will leave via the submarine.
6. Ben says that his people are free to leave the island but they always stay. The submarine gives them the choice. Ben says its destruction could cause problems for him.
7. Aircraft have crashed on the island (Oceanic Flight 815, which crashed thanks to Desmond, Beechcraft, Henry Gale's balloon).
These are just a few things that should be considered. Please tell me if something isn't accurate.
My theory:
The submarine is a decoy like the beards, the "station" that Sayid and co. found, etc. Ben uses it so the Others will believe that they can leave the island. Perhaps, it actually transports people to nearby island, where planes can come and go. By drugging Juliet, she misses this part of the trip and is led to believe that the submarine goes the entire length to and from the island. Also, the Others receive food via a DHARMA food drop of some sort. Alpert and Ethan would use the submarine to go to a nearby island to go on a plane. This is how they could transport supplies and bring people.

Alex?
Saturday, January 21, 2006
Reportedly, the "Other" that Sawyer called Zeke asked someone named Alex to bring him Kate during the encounter between the "Others" and some of the castaways. Perhaps this person is actually the French lady, Danielle Rousseau's, son.

70s Hatch Pad: Part Two
Sunday, October 02, 2005
Whether you have noticed it or not, a symbol has been pervading the contents of the "hatch".

^It is on Desmond's medicine cabinet in the "hatch".
Locke looks. As J. Locke walks into the "hatch" he sees the "symbol".Click here.
It appears on food that has been stowed away in a closet of the "hatch".Click here.
Who stole the cookies from the cookie hatch? A few castaways enjoy cookies from a case with the "symbol" on the box. This picture is a promotional one for an upcoming episode.Click here.
Eerie, this one is. An image of the "symbol" has appeared on the shark that threatened Michael and Sawyer in Ep. 2 Adrift.

^A symbol called Ba Gua, similar to "Dharma".
I don't know all that much about the "Dharma" symbol, but apparently it is very similar to a Buddhist symbol. Here you can find more about "Dharma" and how it relates to Buddhism.
I've also read that numerous people hang this symbol in front of their homes to protect them from any type of evil.
Also, the area in the center represents yin/yang, good/evil, black/white which ties into the symbolism already present in the show. Going back to the concept of protection of your home, some people use a mirror in the center instead. This is supposed to mirror evil away.
I recommend reading David1992's post which explains this furthur; It can be found here.
*silence* Hmmmmmm. Perhaps Desmond is superstitious. Or maybe he is conducting a huge experiment on the island involving nanotechnology and genetic manipulation which would explain the monster and the shark. Hey, you never know. Also, he maybe trying to protect himself from the "sickness".
A speculation was made that the "D" in Dharma was actually a calligraphic "P" and the snakelike line in the senter was an "S". This would make S. Pharma which opens an entirely different speculation. However, in some pictures of the "symbol" it can be clearly seen that the letter is a "D".
I take it that you've noticed that the symbol on the Shark is not entirely the same as the other places the symbol has been shown. I really don't know why. However, the other depictions of the symbol show a curly line in the center that appears to be either a snake or a swan. The one the shark shows is just a straight line.

70s Hatch Pad: Part One
Thursday, September 22, 2005

Finally, after many an episode of waiting, a secret of "Lost" has been revealed! The contents of the "hatch" are actually a guy named Desmond who enjoys 70s music, working out, making smoothies, and taking naps. However, suddenly he must get dressed in a security suit and spy on the people outside the "hatch" using outdated instruments. You saw the episode; You know what I mean.
Obviously I won't be able to cover every single thing I've learned recently, so I will start with something I find very interesting. In the "70s Hatch Pad", there is graffiti on a wall.

I will explain my thoughts on various aspects portrayed:
1) There multiple stick figures in the upper left hand corner. Perhaps they are meant to be the Others or the "Lost" islanders themselves?
2) There is an arrow pointing toward waves next to the word "out". I believe that Desmond (assuming he illustrated this graffiti) is showing that the ocean is the only way off the island.
3) One of the most conspicuous features of the graffiti is the sun with the numerals "108" inside. The number 108 is the sum of "Hurley's Numbers": 4 8 15 16 23 42.
4) In the bottom right hand corner you will see an "eye", the letter M and the word "sick"—in that order. As you probably guessed this means "I am sick" and relates with the whole Quarantine affair.
5) You will notice two houses.
6) In the upper right hand corner there is a dark face and a light face. They both hold very evil and painful expressions but something I found interesting is the headwear of the light-faced figure. He is wearing what appears to be an tribal hat or interestingly enough a uniform hat of a Fast Food Chicken Restaraunt. Avid Lost fans think hard.... (-:
7) There is a very unclear image of what appears to be a raft or boat of some sort.
8) There are various fish in the picture.
9) To the right, above "I am Sick" there is a stick figure who is drawn completely upside down.
10) The mural looks like it could have been drawn by Claire's boyfriend.

Well...What do you think it is?
Friday, May 27, 2005
ABC has 'graciously' left us with a cliffhanger to ponder over during the summer. What's in the hatch?
What are your thoughts about this and the rest of the Lost mystery?

Apparently she's not colorblind...
Thursday, May 19, 2005
The meaning of my title is that the French girl is not insane---well not completely...The reason this thing is called the "Black Rock" is not because it's black or a rock. After watching Exodus Part 1, I could have told you about Jack not being married anymore, the ship setting sail, but noone---Noone saw this coming. There were theories that the "Black Rock" was a magnet, a pillar, a cloud, the Hatch itself, a robot, a base etc. But I congratulate J.J. Abrams at such good storyline. And keeping it secret.
So what does this mean:
1)The ship is old.
2)The ship is named the black rock.
3)The ship has an inscription underneath "Black Rock" that says something like "Portsmouth"
4)There is something completely wrong in this picture. How did a ship, which sails on water, get in the heart of the jungle?

Mr. Artz and Danielle Rousseau
Friday, April 15, 2005

ABOVE: The above picture is a promo picture for Lost episode 21 "The Greater Good." Circled is an unidentified castaway who appears at Boone's funeral---offering flowers. Although about nine of the characters in that picture are unidentified, this one is especially important because it appears we may have seen him somewhere...
Imbd.com says that Daniel Roebuck's character name will be Mr. Artz.
ABOVE: An image of Daniel from Boesfilmogteater.no
NOTE: If you can't make the connection between the two persons then click on the promo picture to see larger. If yet you still remain unseeing...then maybe I need vision correction.
Also look forward to appearences from the "French Lady" Danielle Rousueau, played by Mira Furlan in the Finale.

...the Numbers? Here's an interesting explanation by Jim
NANO-TECHNOLOGY
“It’s not radiation -- it’s NANO-TECHNOLOGY. The black rock near the radio tower is a nanite hive. The nanite or nano-bots ride the carrier wave of the radio transmitter. It’s a weak signal, so they can’t go very far. The ano bots repaired locke’s paralysis, and also gave “Ethan Rom” great strength and seeming indestructibility. The nano-tech could also make a dead man appear to walk again. And could also make the “monster” manifest at certain times. Possibility exists that the nano-tech “virus” could be thought controlled. The bunker that Locke had uncovered with the numbers : I stick by the idea that this is an observation or camera bunker of some sort. The numbers are perhaps a project number. Bottom line: A government experiment out of control.” —Jim

Pandora's Box
Saturday, March 12, 2005
Maybe if you saw what was inside, you'd know why it has to be secret. Inside this very box is the most secrety secret in all of secretdom, and I am its sole witness! Its a heavy burden, Spongebob but nobody must know the mystery of the box. Nobody! Not even Squidwards house.--Patrick
Finally the hatch theory! Okay:
Maybe the hatch relates to the Greek Myth--Pandora's Box. The story goes: Pandora was given a box from the gods. She was forbidden to ever open the box. However, her curiosity got the best of her. She opened the box and out came evil, mischief, and plagues that will contaminate humankind forever. She shut it, but it was too late. The only good thing that the box produced was Hope.
In "Numbers", Lenny cries out to Hurley as he is dragged aaway from a room the mental institution, "You've Opened the Box!"
He was referring to "Pandora's Box." he meant that all the evil of the curse of the "numbers" had fallen upon Hurley. The numbers were engraved on the "hatch."

Prewritten obituary?

!!!!!!!Spoilers Ahead!!!!!!
[Update] Read all you want. I was way off.
Okay, so I lied. It's not a speculation about an interesting idea, (i will write one though) but it will be a guide to the main character who will die before the end of the season.
Here it goes.
01/29 - There will definitely be death before the end of the year, and it won't be a dream," JJ Abrams says of Lost. "And it's not going to be a new character that comes on and all of a sudden dies in that episode. SOURCE: Kristen on E! ONline. (a reliable source, in my opinion, because she was right before.
So a character Will Die, and it will be a Main Character....
...that leaves 14......
Charlie is not the one who will die. But I can tell you that this person is well-loved, well-featured, and well, doomed. It is one of the fourteen series regulars -– one of the BIGGEST characters -- and the episode is guaranteed to make you bawl your ever-lovin’ eyes out. SOURCE: Kristen on E! ONline.
So a Main Character that isn't Charlie...
..that leaves 13....
It's a boy who dies. SOURCE: Kristen on E! ONline.
So It's a boy, implying Walt, but still open to every man on the island, that is a main character...
...that leaves 9...
Jack
Hurley
Jin
Locke
Sawyer
Walt
Michael
Boone
Sayid
When the BIG castmember dies off, Claire's baby will be born .... And Jack will NOT be the one to deliver it. The ultimate reason for the death will be the ultimate betrayal from someone he believes to be his trusted ally. But I will say that when I say BIG character, it is not a reference to anyone's size. Lost will return with new episodes on April 13th and we'll get more backstory on Locke, Jack, Sayid and Kate (in that order) before the season ender which will take the life of one of the beloved ten men. Source: Kristin on E!Online
Big help here....
It can't be Jack, because the person who dies will betray him.
It can't be Jin! Alas! Why, you ask? Can a Korean-speaking man lie to an American-speaking man? Probably not, huh?
..and then there was 7...
Hurley
Locke
Sawyer
Walt
Michael
Boone
Sayid
"and when I saw BIG character, it is not a reference to anyone's size."
This implies that she is deliberately excluding Hurley, or she woudn't say that.
...and so the fated 6...
Locke
Sawyer
Walt
Michael
Boone
Sayid
I would say that only sick and mean producers would kill Walt, because he's only a kid. So I think I can safely that it isn't him.
..Wow....ooo...that leaves 5....
Michael
Boone
Sayid
Locke
Sawyer
It's not Sawyer because he isn't a trusted ally of Jack, may be a mortal enemy....
The Fantastic Four...
Michael
Boone
Sayid
Locke
To narrow them down, they're all pretty even...BUT they do have some nitpicky information that could lesson or increase their chance of death.
MICHAEL-the producers may consider killing Michael as being racist....however....It would make sense, becuase Michael may just be on the island to foster Walt, and doesn't really belong there. He's not really a trusted ally of Jack.
BOONE-Nobody really likes Boone. It's supposed to be a well-loved character. His relationship with Jack is neutral, and would probably not be regarded as a trusted ally or an en,y.
SAYID-A very lovable character. He is a trusted ally of Jack. He would lie, but only to save the people he loves. The "island" also may dislike him because he keeps thinking up ways to get off it.
LOCKE-He is a trusted ally of Jack, but isn't very lovable. We know very little about him, except that he knows many secrets... He would lie, but probably only for some reason we won't know because LOST nevers reveals anything. He has a good chance of turning against Jack and is a good knife-thrower....but I don't the person dies that way......
WHO IS IT?
the overprotective anger-monster......
the weird guy......
the Iraqi that is cool.....
the skeptic.....

Dude, I'm so sorry bro...but everything points toward you. Process of elimination.
/Main character
/Boy
/not Charlie (lol duh)
/speaks English
/capable of lying
/trusted ally of Jack
/well-loved
/not BIG, as in size
/and so on....

A Time To Kill?
Sunday, February 13, 2005
In episode 15, "Homecoming", Locke, Jack, Sayid, Sawyer, and Kate tried to ambush Ethan by using Claire as bait. The plan worked. After a struggle with Jack, Ethan Rom was clearly outnumbered and had 5 guns to his head. Before they can try to get answers out of Ethan, Charlie pops up and kills Ethan with about 5 shots.
Was Charlie justified in killing Ethan because he was avenging how he treated Claire and Charlie himself(and Scott)? Should he have simply just let them go and get answers out of him, with the risk he might escape before they could defeat him?

Theories for the Hallucination
Thursday, January 13, 2005
The Hallucination
In the Hearts and Minds, Locke knocks Boone out and ties him up. He pours a mixture on his head and leaves him with a slightly out-of-reach knife impaled in the ground. Boone hears Shannon screaming and finds strength to free himself from the rope using the knife. He runs to her, also tied up. She says that Locke tied her up too. They hear the MONSTER coming after them. They hide in the trees. Eventually, they start to run. The monster gobbles Shannon up and her corpse is left on the rocks next to a pond of some sort. She dies in Boone's arms. Boone leaves and tries to kill Locke. Then he realizes therer is no blood on him, which Locke points out. Shannon is nearby, talking to someone.
Theory 1
Boone could not give up his excessive caring for Shannon. It caused him distress. Therefore he must see her die, to realize that he is relived with her gone. Like everyone else, he must accomplish something. Locke helped him do it.
Theory 2
Locke has found some mixture on the island that makes you see what your inner soul is thinking. He uses it on Boone to make sure it works.
Theory 3
What boone saw was foretelling a future situation on the island.
Theory 4
Locke is out for the better good of everyone....
These theories are highly undeveloped. Its you turn to speculate. Post a comment either adding to a theory or adding to THEORY 5 which is left empty for completely any theory you can think up. Be creative.
